I saw this exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) back in 2018. I studied GCSE Art & Design at school and achieved a Grade B in it. However, I will admit I did not know much about artwork or appreciate it before. “The Sound of Silence” deeply affected me, particularly the video on Kevin Carter. That is why I looked it up after such time has passed. The minimalism and juxtaposition of light and darkness was very clever. I can appreciate Alfredo’s work now thanks.

Just seen his textile and ceramics close at at Charleston lewes gallery, love the use of colour in his work and the use of hand stitching to his work but also the use of simple fabrics such as linen and felt and how he uses clay and the techniques he applies to his work. 😊

Caro said in an interview that after the untimely death of legendary American sculptor David Smith in 1965, that he, Caro, removed 38 tons of scrap steel fragments from Smith's studio in Upstate New York, and shipped it to his place in Britain. So some of Caro's art contains the spirit of David Smith, literally and figuratively.

This isn't Art, it's illustration formerly known as graphics. Trite to the extreme. YSP has always been up itself.

This introduction from someone I admire brought a big smile to my face. The exhibition was amazing and the way that Gerard spoke about the pieces summed up Annie’s work and how her ‘fans’ feel about her creations. I will never be able to afford to own one of her pieces but to be able to see them at Yorkshire Sculpture Park was the next best thing.

I had long heard about David Smith (his name was Roland David Smith) and his studio at Bolton Landing. I never knew where Bolton Landing was until a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go there in October 2018 to help clean out their Summer home, which they had sold. I said yes and was thrilled to finally see Smith's property. It is a sprawling hillside cleared out of the forest with studios on the brow of the hill. There was only one sculpture left on the property, but it was a pleasure to finally see the place. Downtown Bolton Landing (it's just a small resort town on the west side of Lake George) has one of his sculptures on display, probably a gift from the artist.
